A Lonely Night

Tap Tap Tap Tap

Amar runs out of her room and into her daddy’s arms.

“Daddy! Daddy! There’s a monster in my room!” Her father just nudged her off and told her to go back to bed. It was poker night and he didn’t want her bothering his friends and messing up his game.

Amar reluctantly returns to her room and snuggles back into her warm sheets. She’s about to fall back to sleep when she hears the tapping again. She runs back to her daddy and tells him yet again of the monster in her room.

“Sweetie, there is no such thing as monsters. No go back to bed.”

She returns to her room with a tear in her eye. As she is lying in bed, she tells herself over and over that there is no monster in her room, but she is certain that she hears something moving from inside her closet.

Amar runs to her daddy yet again. “Daddy! I think the monster is in my closet!” Her daddy rolls his eyes.

As he is about to tell her to go back to bed Bill says “It’s alright Dan, we’ll hold the game, go check the closet.” Dan gets up with a grunt and follows his daughter to her room. He opens the closet door, but there is nothing inside. “See, there is no monster here. Now, go back to bed.” He tucked her in and walked out of the room, turning off the light.

Amar, feeling comforted, falls asleep, but is awoken by something pushing on the mattress from under her bed. She runs back to her daddy to tell him the monster is still there, but before she got a word out, Dan, getting very fed up with the whole situation, yelled at her for not letting him enjoy his game. He said there is no monster in her room, she’s just being paranoid. She should just go back to bed.

She goes back to her room sobbing. She lied back down in her bed and tried to go to sleep, but she was crying so loud, it was keeping her up.

It was also annoying the man who was hiding beneath her bed. He got up and killed Amar with the dagger he had with him.
